Children are precious. They come into the world, innocent beings, and trusting in their guardians. They grow up, eager to learn, gobbling up as much as their tiny brains can contain. The world is a great wonder to them and every child hungers for love, approval, and affection. But there’s also something else they need desperately: someone to believe in, and someone who believes in them.
Every child needs a hero, someone they can look up to, to trust with their lives, who won’t abandon them, who will love and accept them for who they are, right where they are.
They need an abundance of grace and mercy. Who doesn’t? When I hear of children who’ve been abused, my heart can barely take it. No child deserves it. They are “precious in His sight.” This is one of the reasons I write for children. To give them hope, and help them see that there is someone beside us who does care.
May we all guard our children, teach them right from wrong, protect them, and show them a good example. May we help them understand how important it is to guard their hearts against those who wish to hurt them.
May we all strive to give our children hope for better future than those who came before.
