Welcome everyone.

Fantasy is my chosen genre, although I have a strong interest in historical fiction and nonfiction. I’ve had two nonfiction articles published, but my main interest is children’s fantasy.

I’m a two-time graduate from the Institute of Children’s Literature, which gave me a great foundation to further my writing career to a higher level. My background as a substitute teacher and school secretary increased my desire to write for children. I stay connected to various websites and blogs on the craft of writing because learning is never-ending.

I’ve always loved to write, and since my first encounter with Baum’s Wizard of Oz, I like imaginary worlds, time travel, and letting my imagination fly. Some of my favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, and J.K. Rowling.

I enjoy movies such as, Chronicles of Narnia, Inkheart, The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe, Voyage of the Dawn Trader, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, etc, and children’s animation.

On my other creative side, I enjoy drawing but have never pursued this as a career choice.

I was a peer counselor for a pregnancy care center, and I believe that every life matters to God. I also believe that God is the Rock of my salvation and partner in my life’s journey. I enjoy reading the Bible (for staying focused and grounded), reading, listening and singing hymns and gospel music, family times, dogs, the cosmos, gardening, the smell of bookstores, and playing golf.

It is my wish that everyone strive for their goals and to reach their dreams.

  3. Hi Debbie,

I am so glad to see you are pursuing your dream to write. I look forward to reading your book. I have several young friends that like to read, and a good children’s book would be a great present.

    take care.

  4. I am glad you liked my blog about Betsy DeVos. I am sure she is more then capable of improving public education. I did get negative replies from my Liberal relatives. women and men. What I still don’t understand is why this liberal women don’t think someone as educated and experienced as DeVos, can’t learn the ins and outs of the DofE and improve. it. Time will tell, It can’t get much worse for the kids in poor areas.
    I like your blog.
