THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN HEART

Elliott and Sabrina, two of the characters in my book (pictured left) would like to invite you to their creator’s (that’d be me) first book signing at Century Center on Fri., April 29th (9am-6pm), and Sat., April 30th (9am-3pm), 120 S. St. Joseph St, South Bend.

The Secret of the Golden Heart is a fantasy adventure for 8-12-year-olds. My young main character gets himself in a bit of trouble when he is transported on a journey to another galaxy to find the secret of his mother’s golden heart. Soon he discovers a veiled light that discloses to him that he’s inherited his mother’s destiny and must now fulfill it. Along the way, he also learns a valuable lesson of the true meaning of faith.

I’ve had some great compliments from children about the book. There will also be other vendors there so if you’re in the area I’d love for you to stop by and visit.

I’ll be giving away bookmarks, coupons, and I’ll also be holding a drawing to win a free golf lesson by a pro at a local golf course for your 8-12-year-old children or grandchildren (the age group for my book). So, please mark the date and stop by to sign up for a free lesson. I’m working on a few other surprises, too. Hope to see you there!

Plotting Book Two

Been busy plotting and writing my next book...

Busy plotting and working on my next book…

Update: I will be offering my first book, The Secret of the Golden Heart, at a signing at Century Center in South Bend at the end of April. Further details will be forthcoming.

Book #1 in my Golden Heart Series is out on Amazon. If you get a chance to read it, please leave a kind review. It’s more of a challenge to market to children when self-publishing, but hopefully parents and grandparents will shop for their little ones and spread the word and leave a review.

This first book is an introduction to the Golden Heart Series and lays a foundation for my twelve-year-old main character’s next adventure on his 2nd quest in this coming of age fantasy story. But you’ll find no wizards or witches, or any other such characters because I didn’t feel it was right to take this book in that direction for young minds to absorb. There are too many books are on the shelves with such story lines that I feel serve no good purpose. Rather, I wanted my book to be adventurous with a bit of mystery with timely truths that will help children grow and develop into a better person.

My 2nd book in this series promises to be a bit more intense with some surprising twists after Kristian discovers that Gracie has disappeared. Frantic, he wastes no time trying to find her, but in the process he discovers a map and realizes there’s another golden heart to find, and he must find it before a cosmic phenomenon occurs and threatens their existence.

He must find Gracie and heart before a solar disaster, but will he have time to do both? The answer lies in the “town that drowned” where he discovers something that has lain dormant for thousands of years.

Stay tuned.

Update On My Progress

stack-of-books-1001655_1280

I wanted to update you on the progress of my book. I’ve uploaded it to Createspace to get it ready for the printed copy. Then I’ll upload it to Draft2Digital for the digital copy so it’ll be ready for digital distributors. It’s a process, and I hope to have a future post on a step-by-step process of how to get you story published. It’s been difficult to know exactly what to do and when to do it because I’m a step-by-step person. I’ve asked lots of questions to those in the business and everyone has been helpful.

My book cover is done for those who haven’t seen it yet….

I’ve also created a book trailer that you can check out at www.debbie-erickson.com if you’d like. Just click, “Books”.

It’s been a lot of fun and so exciting to go through the process of self-publication. I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to have the freedom that comes with self-publication. Learning the process takes some patience but when you see everything come together it’s such a great feeling of accomplishment. And I’m getting to know some really neat people along the way.

For those who love to write, don’t give up. Keep going even if you have to tell yourself everyday not to give up.

I will post when the book is up on Amazon.

I wish you all the best in your endeavors whatever your dreams are.
